Change is Constant… Embrace It

Part of that dedication is looking clearly ahead to the future of the customs clearance and haulage industries and the wider economy so we can advise our customers and stakeholders on what changes are coming. That isn’t always easy! Over the years we have seen government policies introduced, changed and later reversed; wave after wave of technologies introduced; processes changed and changed again! It’s part of our job to take all this in our stride so we can assist our customers.

Strategic Thinking

Back in 2022 the directors of Harbour Shipping and our group company Star Cargo decided the time had come to consolidate all the Harbour Shipping teams together in one purpose-built headquarters in Dover. So the Ferry Booking, Customs Clearance and Administration teams would be all together. The directors chose a site off the A2 at Kedleston Road: a prime location in Dover’s Whitfield Business Park close to all amenities.

After months of planning debates through 2023, construction work began in January 2024 and was complete within the year, enabling the first teams to move into the building during January 2025.

This strategic thinking has now yielded a 2-storey Headquarters built to the highest ecological standards.

Experienced Service… on a State-of-the-Art Foundation

Of course we’re taking care to ensure our customers won’t notice any difference in the quality of service during the change, except some improvements. So our ‘front-end’ of customs clearance professionals with many years of experience in Road Freight and Deep Sea operations won’t change.

In contrast the ‘back end’ has been utterly transformed, giving a solid foundation that enables enhanced digital security and that ensures our equipment can be upgraded to the latest operating systems and software as these come down the line.

So we start 2025 with a huge boost that we want to share with our customers. Our staff are looking forward to new facilities; new opportunities for friendship and a positive buzz in Harbour Shipping for many years ahead. We look forward to working with you.
