Overview
Since 1st January 2021 all vehicles carrying consignments from the UK to the EU and Northern Ireland have been required to submit a Safety & Security Declaration (SSD) to the Import Control System (ICS) of the country where the vessel or train you are travelling on discharges (i.e. Calais, Santander, Dublin, Belfast etc). These SSDs are used by border authorities to analyse the potential risk caused to their territory by goods crossing their borders. SSDs are not documents connected with collection of customs duties and/or taxes.
In order to process this export Safety & Security Document (SSD) all UK companies must ensure they have an EU EORI number for travel to Europe and a XI EORI number for travel to Northern Ireland. Harbour Shipping offers our clients advice on how to find an EU EORI or an XI EORI number. Contact us to find out more.
