For Variable Dover TAP - National Speed Limit To Return

Dover District Council is welcoming news from Highways England today that they are investing in a permanent arrangement for Dover TAP (Traffic Access Protocol)  introducing a variable speed limit on the A20.
A series of electronic variable signs will be placed along the A20 from the Round hill Tunnels to Aycliffe. When completed in early 2017, the national speed limit will apply on this section of the A20, unless Dover TAP is in place, when a 40mph speed limit will be enforced.  Dover TAP will be controlled by Highways England.
Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Cabinet Member for Access said: “We are delighted at this news.  This is something that we have been campaigning for since the temporary Dover TAP was put in place over a year ago.  This, combined with the junction improvements currently taking place, will provide Dover with a more resilient road network to support both the town and the port.”
