Customs Changes Timeline 2024 - 2025

BIFA, the British International Freight Association, is the UK’s leading body representing the UK international freight services industry and Harbour Shipping have been proud to be associated with them for many years.

Through 2024 and into 2025 the British government and other authorities are introducing multiple changes to the customs arrangements operating for freight at UK ports. Some of the dates for these are tentative and subject to alteration, and BIFA have produced a helpful aide-memoire for the planned changes.

30 Mar 2024 End of CHIEF to CDS transition
30 Apr 2024 BTOM Documentary risk-based identity and physical checks
1 Jul 2024 NCTS5 implementation
3 Jul 2024 Start of ICS2 transition
30 Sep 2024 Windsor Framework – UKIMS Green Lane access
31 Oct 2024 S&S Declarations for EU import
4 Dec 2024 ICS2 maritime carriers filing
31 Jan 2025 999L permanently removed from export declarations
1 April 2025 ICS2 Maritime House level filing
1 Sep 2025   ICS2 road and rail filing
