This is one of our ‘Highlights of 2022’ series where our colleagues recall a highlight of their year.

The Customs Clearance team handles many thousands of import and export jobs every year so we expect the unexpected! Alongside the machinery parts, foodstuffs and everything that’s needed to keep the world running, we also get eye-catching and unusual shipments. Sometimes these are interesting works of art, paintings and sculptures. Sometimes they are rare animals like this rhinoceros.

Of course sometimes it isn’t *what* we’re doing the customs clearance for but *who* which stands out in the memory. However, with our high professional standards of discretion you wouldn’t expect us to name anyone involved.

Suffice to say Harbour Shipping is likely to be involved if the news is talking about sports tournaments and transfers of international sportsmen and women between clubs in the UK and Europe. This year colleagues who know their football, rugby, darts and cycling have seen the details of sportsmen and women at all levels pass across their desks. When a footballer makes the news at their new club or scores a goal it’s strange how there might be more of a personal connection having helped him move.

Senior Customs Clearance Specialist Neil Sandford said,
