Christmas Dinner & Dance

With coronavirus disrupting the social calendar for the last few years this was the first Christmas Dinner and Dance since 2019. Colleagues from Harbour Shipping’s teams were joined by our sister companies such as Husk, Freightlane and Sealane. With so many new faces since 2019 demand to attend was so strong the event was held at one of Dover’s largest venues: the Holiday Inn at Whitfield. On the night nearly 220 people sat down together to eat.

Star Cargo Managing Director Mr Tom James gave the speech after dinner and praised the companies’ remarkable performances during 2022 and looked forward to even better times in 2023. This was followed by the raffle and the band starting to play so the dance floor filled up.

The night was thoroughly enjoyed by all, with the atmosphere only slightly dented by England exiting the World Cup before the main course was served. At the end of the evening colleagues left the venue to see a Christmassy inch of snow lying with more falling overnight.

Harbour Shipping Director Steve Applebee said,

“After the past few years with the pandemic and Brexit it was lovely to see a record number of people out enjoying themselves. I was particularly pleased because this was the first company-wide event the additional people we hired for the Brexit changes could come to, and the turn-out and atmosphere was great.”

Thanks are due to Star Cargo for holding the event and to Harbour Shipping Director Steve Cummings for organising it so well to accommodate so many people. The Holiday Inn at Whitfield did us proud with decorations and service, festive food and drinks.
