The annual Christmas Dinner and Dance has been a fixture in the Harbour Shipping calendar since we were founded in 1983! Once again last Saturday, colleagues, husbands, wives and partners from Harbour Shipping’s teams were joined by our sister companies such as Husk, Freightlane and Sealane to dress up, eat well and get in the Christmas swing. Demand to attend is always strong so the event was again held at one of Dover’s largest venues: the Holiday Inn at Whitfield. On the night nearly 220 people sat down together to eat.
Star Cargo Managing Director Mr Tom James gave the speech after dinner and praised the companies’ remarkable performances during 2024 and looked forward to even better times in 2025. This was followed by the raffle and the band starting to play so the dance floor filled up.
The night was thoroughly enjoyed by all, despite the gales from Storm Darragh outside causing trees to block roads and the wind to flap the walls of the marquee.
Harbour Shipping Director Steve Applebee said,
“With another busy year and big changes behind us it was lovely to see a record number of people out enjoying themselves. We're about to undergo a huge change in the New Year and we're all excited about 2025. Watch this space!”
Thanks are due to Star Cargo for holding the event and to Harbour Shipping Director Steve Cummings for organising it so well to accommodate so many people. The Holiday Inn at Whitfield did us proud with decorations and service, festive food and drinks.
